KIA EV6 [Genting Hill Climb] – 1st On Genting / AWD, 605Nm Super Fun Drive / YS Khong Driving
Finally, after a long wait, because of the global scarcity of the Kia EV6, we got our hand on one, and of course we just had to see how it performs on our favourite mountain.
We actually came up twice, but the first drive was botched a little as the road was pretty wet. (Whether or not we get to see that video will depend on our editors, hahaha.) However, we managed to get good weather on our second try, but out of respect for the 605 Nm of torque, we decided to keep traction control on.
As expected, the EV6 took to the slopes like a duck to water, and despite being 2,103 kg in weight, it was actually surprisingly agile.
My big worry was the brakes on the fast downhill section in the first part, but the EV6 made it through without any issues.
We used up 40 percent of the charge for the entire journey from Petaling Jaya to the top of the mountain, which included a good 15 minutes of hard acceleration up the hill, but coming down, it hardly used any because of the recovery.
There is also the i-pedal mode, that invokes maximum regeneration, so on a net basis, the remaining power from the yop of the hill until we reached home just dropped 5 percent.
All in all, it was a great drive – I am starting to like EVs.
