Toyota Camry 2.5 Dynamic Force Engine, 8-speed Automatic, Fuel Consumption Test / YS Khong Driving
The Toyota Camry’s Dynamic Force 2.5 litre engine is the talk of the town, boosting power to 209 PS and 253 Nm of torque. Put together with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the drive train is very similar to that of the Lexus ES250, and although the Camry is not as plushily appointed as the Lexus, the price difference is enough to get many customers to sign up for it.
You have probably seen our test drive video, and perhaps our Genting Hill Climb video, but here we are with an actual fuel consumption test, run at normal road speeds (not at 60 km/h), so you can get an idea of just what is possible with this car.
The mooted fuel consumption under a mixed cycle is 5.6 liters per 100 kilometers – how much do you think we can do with air conditioner on, and driving at speeds up to 110 km/h?
We captured the entire 50 km test route without any edit so that you can see exactly what we did, what speed we travelled at and what traffic conditions we encountered. We used the existing instrumentation in the vehicle, and used the speedometer and odometer of the vehicle as well. What you see is what you get, so don’t come at us with the usual ‘you should have done this, you should have done that.
