If you have not washed your car before, or need some basic guidance as to the dos and don’ts, here is a simple guide to washing your car, using ordinary household items like old towels and washcloths.

Yes, I do have a pump, but that is because I need it to wash the floor of the front yard (this is what you tell your wife, and you can show her the part where I use it to wash away the moss and lichen.

If you cannot persuade your wife to let you buy the pump, you have my sympathies, but you can also use the garden hose.

If you do not have car shampoo (What? You don’t have car shampoo??) you can use dishwashing liquid. They are usually food grade, so would be milder than soap powder.

Have fun, and do do try it yourself – at the very least you will get to breather a bit harder – yes, it was quite an exercise.
